Olly Bryant shared a BMW M3 with young German Tim Scheerbarth in the VLN race at the Nurburgring as practice for the 24 hours that he hopes to contest with Black Falcon in one of their Audi R8 GT3 cars.

Qualifying

The car had just undergone a complete rebuild so there were a number of issues in qualifying. The alternator was not charging so the car was down on power, and the ABS was not working so the car was difficult to slow down without locking the wheels on the tight and twisty turns of the Nordschleife. However both drivers got their qualifying laps in and Olly time of 10m00.780s lined the car up 134th on the 280 car grid.

Race

The car was fixed for the race and Olly made a good start, bringing the car up through the order and setting laps under 9m50s for the combined Nordschleife and GP circuit lap. Olly made a pit stop after 1 hour for some fuel then continued for a further hour before handing over to Tim who drove a solid stint for the final 2 hours. The car came home first in class and in 59th position overall. This was a fantastic result as the team had worked hard to rectify the faults with the car and Olly had got in a good 2 hours of track time on the infamous Nordschleife. The car’s fastest lap was a 9m48.830s lap.
