Spa 6 hours – 30th September
2021 Spa 6 Hours winners Olly Bryant and James Cottingham reunited again for another attempt at this illustrious race. Lining up a strong second on the 110 car grid was a fantastic start in the wet Friday night qualifying session. Olly took the opening stint and ran at the front throughout, despite being shoved wide at turn 1 by 22 winner David Hart. Olly ran long in the opening stint but a problem was developing with the throttle, it was increasingly heavy and beginning to stick. At the driver change, Olly briefed James who then went to fuel the car. After a lengthy queue , the GT40 resumed someway down the order but still in contention. Unfortunately the throttle issue worsened and James had to returns to the pits for the mechanics to investigate. It turned out to be a sticking spindle in a new carburettor. After 30 mins attempting to fix the issue. The decision was made to save the car for next time. They’ll be back!
