Olly Wins Again at Goodwood – 10th April 2022
Olly wowed the crowds at the 79th Members’ Meeting at Goodwood with a thrilling win in the Surtees Trophy Race. Driving a 1966 Lola T70 Spyder, Olly charged from 5th on the grid to take the lead on the final lap, after a race long battle with Mark Shaw and Rob Hall. Olly also shared the Historika 904/6 with Andrew Smith in the Graham Hill Trophy Race. This was the car Olly won the Ronnie Hoare Trophy Race with in October at the 78th Members’ Meeting. The Graham Hill Trophy race hosts a field of much quicker pre-1966 GT machinery, and the little 904 was somewhat out-gunned. The pair brought the car home 1st out of 3 similar machines and 17th overall after the 45 minute contest.
Olly was paired with Darren Turner in the Gerry Marshall Trophy race. Olly had won the 2016 race and was keen to challenge again. Sharing the family Camaro Z28, Olly recorded a time good enough for P3 on the grid. Darren took the start but on lap 3 , the engine developed an issue so Darren had to pull of the circuit.
