Oliver Bryant wins the BRDC Secretary’s Challenge
Oliver raced a Jade 2 sportscar in the 15 lap annual invitation race at the Walter Hays Trophy. He qualified on pole position in the damp ahead of a Pescarolo LMP1 car that struggled to get heat into its tyres on the cold morning.
Martin short started the Pescarolo from the front row and out-gunned the Jade to the first corner. The car was no longer struggling for a grip and pulled out a second a lap on Oliver. Martin pitted to hand over to Stuart Hall and it was here that the pairing lost their advantage as Oliver did not have to make a stop in the lower-performance car. Oliver got his head down and produced some rapid 53 second laps to claim a 20 second victory. The pace of the Jade was such that Oliver’s average speed over 15 laps was 108mph!
Thanks to Howard Spooner for the use of the car and MBR racing for the preparation.
