Dijon Delivers 3-4th June
The 3rd round of the 2023 Sixties Endurance Series took place at Dijon, France. Driving the Historika prepared Porsche 904/6. Olly Bryant and Andrew Smith again qualified an exceptional P3 overall on the grid of more than 60 cars! Andrew started and faired well against the bigger engined machinery, remaining in the top 15 for the duration of his stint. A smooth stop executed by the Historika team saw Olly rejoin the field before setting off at a charging pace to move up the field. Unfortunately the race was shortened due to a circuit curfue so it could not run for the full 120 minutes. Even so, Olly brought the car up to P3 overall at the chequered flag. The winner was then given a time penalty for an infringement so this promoted the pair to 2nd overall. An incredible result for the 2 litre engined machine. The next outing is at Le Mans classic later in June, followed by Paul Ricard in early September.
As reigning 2.0L Cup champion, Olly was asked to share with Historika customer Steve Jones for the weekend in 2.0L Cup. Olly was delighted and looking forward to working with Steve in his former rally car. Unfortunately Steve had a scooter accident in paddock on the Thursday evening and was declared unfit to race. Steve graciously let Olly complete the practice , qualifying and race sessions on his own. This was a good opportunity to test and further develop the car. Olly lined up on pole position, and then after a fantastic 90 minute scrap with Seb Perez and Phil Quaife , he won the race on the road by just 0.4 seconds. Unfortunately, post race, the rear track width was discovered to be slightly over tolerance, resulting in a DSQ.
Olly would like to thank Steve Jones for the opportunity to race his car.
