Porsche 997 GT3 Cup - Qualifying
Olly was asked to drive alongside Will Goff in his Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car. This was only second outing for Will with this car so the car had a base setup but would need a test day to maximise its pace. Even so, Olly managed a 1m10.493 to claim 2nd in class and 4th overall on the grid.
Races
Will started both the day and night races, making good starts in both races and having fierce battles with other Porsches and Ferraris. Olly had a good battle with the 997 of Andy Ruhan in race one but was unable to find a way past before the flag and ended up 6th overall and 3rd in class. In race two, Olly lost a lap to the Porsche of Sumpter/Ritchie and the Ferrari of Barff/Eastwood as they ran the red light at the end of the pitlane when the safety car was approaching. This offence got them both a drive-through penalty but the advantage of gaining a lap was far greater. Olly pushed hard in the dark and un-lapped himself from the Porsche and closed the gap to the Ferrari from 50 seconds down to just 7.5 seconds at the chequered flag, to claim 3rd overall and 3rd in class. It was a great result for Will who was pleased with Olly’s performance. With some tweaks to the car’s setup, there is no reason why the pairing can’t challenge for class wins in GT Cup.
