Bryant Scores Maiden Sportscar win at Snetterton
British GT star Oliver Bryant took victory in his first sportscar race in a Jade Prototype driving with the car’s owner Howard Spooner.
Oliver had never driven the car before but instantly connected with the car and qualified it on the front row of the grid with a 1m04.7s lap around the Norfolk circuit.
Howard Spooner took the start and set off in chase of James Richards in a much higher spec car. Howard was loosing touch slightly then suffered a spin when the brakes got hot. He pitted at 30 mins with a 45s deficit to the lead car.
A great pitstop by the Mark Bailey’s team saw Oliver rejoin with a reduced gap to the leader who started to slow with a wheel bearing problem. Oliver settled in and took the lead before bringing the car home safely for the win despite a few splutters from the engine on the final lap as the fuel ran low!
Howard was delighted by Oliver’s performance and has invited him to drive in the next round at Oulton Park on June 30th.
