25th October 2020

Bryant father and son just miss out on podium finish in the Motor Racing Legends RAC TT 3 hours – Silverstone 25th October 2020.

One week after Goodwood Speedweek, the Motor Racing Legends Team, with the support of DK Engineering, hosted a 1 day event at Silverstone on the full Arena GP Circuit. The highlight being the 3 hour RAC Tourist Trophy. Olly partnered father Grahame in the AC Cobra. An issue in qualifying meant a P21 start position. Olly took the start and wasted no time moving up the order before pitting under safety car 1 hour 10 minutes into the race to hand over to Grahame. This middle stint was short lived as another safety car soon followed. Grahame pitted earlier than expected and in the confusion was waved through the pit-lane, picking up a stop-go penalty for running the red light at pit-out as the safety car train was passing the pit lane. Olly jumped back in and was hunting down a podium finish before having to pit to serve the drive through penalty, which with the very long pit-lane on the GP circuit, cost over 30 seconds. At the chequered flag, the father and son team ended up in 4th position overall, just 25 seconds off the podium!   They were generously awarded the family- spirit award which was warmly received after a battling performance in ever changing conditions in the October gloom.

At the same event, the pairing shared a 1972 Ford Capri RS-2600 which ran faultlessly in the Historic Touring Car Challenge. Olly qualified the car on wets 5th overall and 2nd in class. The race was dryer and Grahame started on slicks and pitted after 20 minutes from P9. Olly resumed and brought the car home sixth overall and 2nd in class. Thanks to Rob of Quinntech Racing.
