Podium in Tricky Conditions at Snetterton

Olly Bryant joined his father Grahame in the Morgan +8 he’s campaigned since the 1970’s for a round of the Heritage Grand Touring Car Challenge at Snetterton. The track was wet in qualifying and the cloudy skies did little to aid the situation. The Dunlop semi-slick road tyres did not function well in these conditions and the car slid from corner to corner to end up 11th fastest.

The race brought more mixed conditions with a damp but drying circuit to start with, Grahame made a good start moving up to 3rd by lap 4 of the race. A heavy shower hit the track on lap 5 and Grahame lost some ground and positions until pitting on lap 12 to hand over to Olly. Straight away, Olly was lapping fastest on the wet circuit, and as the circuit began to dry up, he moved back into 3rd place. On lap 26 Olly set the fastest lap of the race and the following lap, he moved up into 2nd position but did not have enough time to catch the leading MGB V8 of John Wilson which had been driven well on its skinny tyres in both the wet and drying conditions.
