TT Victory At Long Last! -Bryant & Turner Win At Goodwood! 19th September 2021

Monday 20th September 2021

After many years of trying-  2021 was finally Olly’s year at Goodwood. Lining up 2nd on the grid for the RAC TT Celebration race, Olly shared the family Cobra with Aston Martin ace Darren Turner, with whom he partnered with in 2019.

Darren made an excellent start to take the lead and retained that until the pit stops just at the 20 minute mark. Olly took over just as a safety car was called. As the safety-car peeled in a few minutes later, it was Romain Dumas in the Bill Shepherd Cobra who had managed to jump Bryant & Turner in the stops, due to a short pit-stop. (the regs for 2021 dictate a minimum pit stop time line to line of 50 seconds). Nonetheless, Olly was unaware of this and pressed on hounding Dumas lap after lap, setting fastest lap of the race in the process. After several hairy attempts to pass, they crossed the line nose to tail , the Dumas car was handed a 21 second penalty for the short pit stop so Olly & Turner were rightly classified as the winners having run at the front all race long. Much to the relief of everyone involved with the car , they finally did it, RAC Tourist Trophy race winners in 2021. Olly & Darren were awarded the “Will Hoy Memorial Trophy” for best performance in a closed cockpit car for their efforts.

To top off an excellent weekend, Olly also finished a close second to good chum Phil Keen in the Whitsun Trophy race when a long brake pedal in the Lola T70 Spyder cost him the lead in the final laps. Olly also lined up 3rd on the grid for the Sussex Trophy in the Lotus 15 but a broken differential and an engine issue meant P6 was the end result.
