QUALIFYING
Maxime qualified the car in P14 for race 1 with a 2m31.0s lap. Oliver qualified in the faster, 2nd qualifying session but was blocked by a viper on the ultra-fast run into Blanchimont. This ruined the lap and he had to settle for a 1m31.8s lap. This placed the car in P28 for the start of race 2.
RACE 1
The heavens opened as usual at Spa and the incredible 42-car grid made there way onto the treacherous track for the start. Oliver lined up on the left side of the 7th row and made a great start lapping quickly and consistently passing a Viper, a Corvette and 2 Aston Martins to move up into P10. Oliver was lapping quicker than his team mate in the no.8 Tech 9 Porsche and was right on the tail of that car and a Barwell Aston Martin which he passed twice only to be robbed of the position under yellows when the car snuck back past!
Oliver drove well and kept the car on the track in the slippery conditions and handed over to Maxime. Disaster struck in the Pit lane as the car pitted early under the safety car, this should have seen the car rejoin in P6, but a Dodge Viper crashed into the car in the Pit Lane! This damaged the bumper and cost valuable time, the car eventually rejoined in p18. The Viper had been let out of its pit box into the path of an Aston, the 2 collided and collected the no. 7 Porsche knocking Oliver and his mechanic over in the process.
Max lost places early on in the traffic but then worked his way up to 10th and passed the no.8 Porsche before the race was red flagged due to a huge accident. Unfortunately, the result was counted back 2 laps and this meant classification as 16th and 4th in the Porsche class, Bryant and Dumarey were actually the 2nd placed Porsche at the end of the race!
RACE 2
Both drivers were hoping for better luck in the second race as sunshine covered the beautiful Spa- Francorchamps circuit. Max drove a solid opening stint and then another huge accident brought out a safety car that lasted for most of the race. Oliver was handed the car in p18 and was in P14 when the safety car came in for a one-lap dash to the flag. Oliver passed a Viper and a Corvette on this one lap and they finished P12.
Oliver and Maxime are both well matched and quick during the races, at the next meeting at Dijon, they will need better qualifying performances and more luck to ensure strong results!
