Olly Bryant Wins Again at the Silverstone Classic - 27/28th July 2019

Sunday 28th July 2019

Olly Bryant returned to the Silverstone Classic and scored two superb wins, two pole positions and two fastest laps.

Driving the Lotus XV in the Motor Racing Legends Stirling Moss Trophy race, Olly claimed a dominant pole position in the dry qualifying session. The race was held in wet conditions early on Saturday morning. Olly held his nerve around the outside of the Kent Lister into turn 1 and managed to build a 7 second lead by lap 3. Unfortunately a car spun into the gravel and this brought out a safety car negating the healthy lead. At the re-start again Olly managed to pull clear but he was challenged all the way by the mighty Lister of David Hart. Hart managed a slightly quicker pit-stop and emerged in the lead, so Olly had to close the gap before trying to pass. A brave dive down the inside at Vale initially got the move done but the grunt of the Lister meant the two cars then ran side by side through Farm and Abbey before the Lotus emerged in front. Olly kept his nerve in the tricky conditions to win by just 3 seconds after 50 minutes of racing. This was a well deserved result with the Lotus given the retirements from the lead at Donington earlier in May and Spa last September.

Win number two came in the Chevy Camaro sharing with father Grahame. The duo won the Tony Dron Trophy race after a fantastic scrap with the Ford Capris. Grahame started the race and managed to hold the lead until the stops. Better timing with a safety car for their rivals meant Olly resumed in P4 and had it all to do. Olly managed to close the gap to the Pochinol/ Hanson Capri and came through to win. This was a fantastic win for the pair, repeating their 2018 effort and following on from their win at Donington Park back in May.
