Oliver Claims Two Victories on the Silverstone Historic Grand Prix Circuit

Oliver Bryant won the Cloth Cap race for historic sports and gt cars in a Lotus XV shared with his father Grahame. The car had a misfire in qualifying and the timekeeping system was down so the car lined up 26th on the grid in all the confusion.

Grahame started the race and brought the car through to 9th place before handing over to Oliver after 15 minutes. Oliver resumed and set some fast lap times on the way to taking the lead. He then brought the car home 30 seconds clear of P2 to score a win for the car on its first outing of 2007.




RW Racing did a great job preparing the car which has an entry to the Goodwood Revival meeting at the beginning of september where Oliver will drive the car in front of more than 150,000 spectators!

The second win of the day was much harder fought in the Top Hat Race for 1960's touring cars. The race was 45 minutes in duration and Oliver drove solo. He started from the pole position he had claimed aboard the Plymouth Barracuda and lead for 2 laps before Leo Voyazides in his spectacularly fast Ford Falcon got through at Maggots. From here a great battle ensued which was to last the duration of the race.



The cars swapped positions numerous times during the race including in the pitstops. Oliver got by for the final time with 2 laps to go shortly after setting the fastest lap of the race (2m11.9s) which was a full 2 seconds faster than the lap record. Leo was full of praise for Oliver and the great race that had occured and all the other drivers, crews and spectators were enthralled by the epic battle which was none stop, bumper to bumper for three quarters of an hour!
