Race
Olly had a great battle with Roger Wills in his Mclaren M1C to win by 5.7 seconds and set the fastest lap with a 1m09.814s lap. The second race was in tricky conditions with rain showers. Olly dominated this race from the start to win by a very convincing 33 seconds after 30 minutes of racing.
MASTERS TOP HAT TOURING CARS
Dodge Dart
Qualifying
Olly was new to this car and was pleased to qualified 3rd on the grid just 0.9s off the pole setting Ford Falcon of Rob Hall.
Race
Olly made a good start and ran solidly in 3rd place for the whole of his stint. The much lighter weight Ford Falcons pulled away out front. Grahame took over after half-distance and continued to circulate in 2nd position until being passed by Roger Wills and Rob Hall in the closing stages to finish 4th.
MASTERS PRE-66 GT CARS
AC Cobra
Qualifying
Olly planted the car firmly in pole position, over a second quicker than the nearest rival with a blistering 1m19.338s lap.
Race
Grahame Bryant started the race and was running well, but losing a great deal of time to the rapid E-type of Jon Minshaw who was being chased by Gary Pearson's similar car. Grahame brought the car in to hand over to Olly who rejoined the race and set about the task of getting the car back up to the front. Olly was lapping fastest on track and with half an hour to go moved up into 2nd place and continued to hunt down the leading Jaguar. Olly simply ran out of time and had to settle for 2nd, just 14 seconds behind after 2 hours of racing.
TOURING 70'S
Ford Capri RS2600
Qualifying
Olly qualified the car 6th on the grid with a 1m20.658s lap.
Race
The race was spent battling with John Young's BMW CSL Batmobile and the Ford Escort RS1800 of Mike Wrigley. Young found a way past the defensively driven Escort and began to pull away. Olly had several near misses as the Escort was being made very wide and after a few trips on the grass to avoid the swerving Escort, Olly had several good runs on to the start finish straight. On one of these runs, whilst right up behind the Escort, Mike unfortunately missed a gear and Olly could do nothing to avoid touching the back of the car, spinning him out of the race and bringing out the red flags as the Escort made contact with the pit wall. Mike very kindly explained to the commentators that he had made a mistake which caused the incident so no further action was taken. The race was ended and Olly was classed as 3rd overall.
