Hard Fought Success in Hungary- 2.0 Litre Cup 14th July 2019

Monday 22nd July 2019

Olly Bryant and Andrew Smith once again visited the top step of the podium with a fantastic win at the Hungaroring circuit on Sunday 14th July. Driving the Historika Porsche 901 and having qualified only 3rd on the grid in a session of mixed conditions, the pair emerged victorious in the 90 minute contest. Andrew ran a close second behind the Historika sister car of James Littlejohn and Simon Evans in the early stages, before handing over to Olly at just over half distance. An untimely safety car on the opening lap of Olly’s sting granted an even bigger 50 second margin to the Richard Cook / Harvey Stanley Porsche 901. With championship rivals Jordan & Sumpter a close 3rd on the road, Olly set about his escape and managed to gap Jordan and close up on Stanley. With 3 laps to go, Olly caught Stanley and managed to find his way by with a neat switch back exiting turn 1. Heavy showers descended on the circuit on the final tour so Olly backed off and brought the car home with a 7.5 second margin from Jordan, with Stanley and Cook a close 3rd. Olly also recording fastest lap. Olly and Andrew are currently 2nd in the championship just 10 points behind Mark Sumpter with two races to go. The next round is at Monza on the 21/22nd September.
