Giant Killing performance at Goodwood! 13-14th April
Olly impressed at Goodwood in the Graham Hill Trophy race piloting Historika’s wonderful Porsche 904/6 in a field of much more powerful machinery. He lapped in the 1min26s bracket in qualifying to line up an impressive P6 overall and first under 2.0L engined car. Outgunned by the more powerful AC Cobras at the start, Olly ran 9th before a executing a cracking move to pass the Lotus Elan of Nigel Greensall and the AC Cobra of Bill Shepherd in one go at Lavant with 2 laps to go. “It’s really impressive how Historic continue to develop and improve the car. We showed our potential last year with a P2 overall result at Dijon but this is by far the best the car has performed at Goodwood. I’m looking forward to sharing the car with Andrew Smith at Spa next month to see what it can do there!”
Olly also partnered Marino Franchitti in the Think Automotive Chevy Camaro in the Gordon Spice Trophy race. The duo lined up 4th on the grid, but an unfortunate poor getaway dropped Marino to 12th in the early laps. A good recovery then ensued with Olly ending up P6 at the flag. An grumble from the differential meant the car was unable to start in the reverse grid sprint on the Sunday.
