Multiple British GT race-winner, Olly Bryant, has joined the Barwell Motorsport Ginetta G50Z-Zytek programme for a minimum of four British GT series races. Bryant, 23, will campaign the car at Spa, Rockingham, Snetterton and Silverstone, and will be joined in the last three events by experienced international GT racer, Piers Johnson. Barwell is currently in discussion with a number of interested parties regarding the seat available in the G50Z alongside Olly at Spa.

The Zytek-engined Ginetta G50Z made its race debut in the GT3 class of the opening Britcar round at Silverstone, claiming third place in the hands of Ginetta owner and MD respectively, Lawrence Tomlinson and Richard Dean. The Spa race event on May 9/10 will be the car’s debut in British GT, where it will run in the ‘Invitation’ class as it hasn’t been homologated as a GT3 car as yet.

Barwell Motorsport will be running the car with factory support from Ginetta Cars, and Olly Bryant will now be in a position to assist Ginetta further with the development of this exciting new project. “Ginetta Cars is delighted that Olly will be joining Barwell and Ginetta to take on the challenge in BGT with the new G50Z.” comments Ginetta MD, Richard Dean. “Having spoken to Olly on numerous occasions over the past few years about driving for Ginetta, we are looking forward to his experience and his contribution to the G50Z in its first season.”

Olly Bryant: “I’m really looking forward to working with Barwell Motorsport and Ginetta on this exciting new project. We have a good opportunity to race with the British GT front-runners, and it offers me the chance to develop an ongoing relationship with a leading British sportscar manufacturer.”

The team is also looking at the possibilities of running it in events such as the Zolder 24 Hours. It is also possible that it could appear in some International GT Open Championship events towards the end of the season.
